Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day Vocalist Undergoing Treatment for Substance Abuse


Billie Joe Armstrong behaved erratically during a performance over the weekend in Las Vegas, said today the Los Angeles Times.

Armstrong broke his guitar on iHeartRadio Festival City casinos, an event organized by Clear Channel, and forced to foul language to his band left the stage one minute before the time it was assigned.

The artist broke the theme "Basket Case" (1994) in protest because he wanted to play a new song.

Many of those present understood the incident as part of the idiosyncrasy rebel punk band, Green Day but subsequently released a statement on their website which said that Armstrong's outburst was not part of the show.

"Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We want the world to know that our performance was not shortened by Clear Channel and we apologized to those offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. Sorry to have to postpone some of our promotions to come, "the group says on its website.

Green Day was headlining Friday night in Las Vegas with Usher and Rihanna.

The band's new album, "One", debuted on September 25 with a more pop sound, critics, used to characterize the creators of "American Idiot".

The album is the first in a trilogy that continues with "Two!" and concludes with "Tré!", will be released on November 13 and January 15, 2013, respectively.

In early September, Armstrong had to be admitted to a hospital in Italy for treatment of an ailment that has not transpired publicly, a health problem that made Green Day canceled a concert in Bologna.

Green Day is set to return to Las Vegas on February 8, 2013.
